Cervical-Levator scapulae self-stretch

- Patient sitting with hand on side to be treated holding the chair.
- Patient leans trunk away for stretch.
- Patient flexes, side bends, and rotates the head away and supports the head position with the other hand pulling the head slightly more into the flexion/sidebending/rotation.
- The stretch can be enhanced by a contraction of the lower trapezius muscle on the same side.
The stretch is held for 10-15 seconds and repeated three to five times with increasing side bending away each time.
