Used for removing the restriction in lymphatic flow as well as to increase parasympathetic tone due to vagal stimulation
Steps for Treatment:
- The patient is supine while the doctor is standing or seated at the head of the table.
- The physician rests the patient’s occiput in their hands, then place finger pads in the upper cervical region and slides up until they hook underneath the occiput.
- Finger pads should be in contact with the trapezius and immediate underlying suboccipital musculature
- The physician slowly and gently applies pressure anteriorly and cephalad and sustains pressure for 30 seconds to a minute, or until feeling the tissues release and the patient’s head falls into the hands
