Iliotibial Band Myofascial Release

You are here:
  1. Palpate the muscle areas for tightness
  2. Bring origin and insertion of muscle together (aka ‘smush’ the muscles)
  3. Motion test cephalad and caudad for direction of ease
  4. Move muscle into direction of ease and hold 
  5. With the position maintained, repeat for medial/ lateral and clockwise/counterclockwise and stack these different planes
  6. Hold tissue in all three planes until a ‘release’ is felt
  7. Unstack in reverse order of stacking in previous step
