Recall Diagnosing the Sacrum
Steps for Treatment:
- Patient is prone, in sphinx position
- Monitor the sacral sulci with one finger in each sulci
- ABduct and internally rotate both hips until motion is felt at the sacral sulcus.
- Place heel of palm of the cephalad hand on left and right sacral Sulci (or index and middle finger) and reinforce it with the caudad hand on top
- Tell patient to inhale and exhale deeply. Increase anterior pressure while patient exhales.
- Maintain pressure during inhalation (resist sacral extension)
- Repeat 5-7 times and end with a passive stretch
- Reassess
