Used to test for hypertonicity of the quadriceps muscle, specifically the rectus femoris
Similar to the Thomas Test, however this test is performed at the edge of the table
- Patient supine with gluteal crease near the edge of the table
- Have patient bring both knees to chest then let one leg drop down allowing the the knee to freely hang over the edge of the exam table
- Leg should bend to right angle over table straightening from the starting position
Test is considered to be positive if the knee of the leg being tested does not hang down at 90 degrees
