Steps for Treatment:

  1. Patient prone, physician stands at the level of the patient’s thighs/knees
  2. Begin at transverse process, place thumbs/thenar eminences over paravertebral musculature, fingers fanned out laterally start at transverse processes of L5
  3. Engage the soft tissue and direct your force anteriorly and cephalad
  4. Hold for several seconds, slowly release, repeat in gentle, rhythmic/kneading fashion
  5. Continue along paraspinal muscles, repositioning over transverse processes of each segment for lumbar there is no change in position, work from L5 up to L1; repositioning for each segment
