Steps for Treatment:
- Patient prone, physician stands at the level of the patient’s thighs/knees
- Begin at transverse process, place thumbs/thenar eminences over paravertebral musculature, fingers fanned out laterally start at transverse processes of L5
- Engage the soft tissue and direct your force anteriorly and cephalad
- Hold for several seconds, slowly release, repeat in gentle, rhythmic/kneading fashion
- Continue along paraspinal muscles, repositioning over transverse processes of each segment for lumbar there is no change in position, work from L5 up to L1; repositioning for each segment
